Swinoujscie Swinemünde-Fort Zachodni (Westbatterie)  , Poland
Redoubt on a square plan erected between 1856-61, transformed between 1878-87 into an artillery fort surrounded by a moat and earth embankments. During the first world war a battery of 4 heavy, 210 mm guns was installed here. During World War II, stationed in the fort coastal battery of 150 mm, subordinated to the Navy School of Artillery. In 1940 it was given the name "Henningsen" from the name of serving here before see. Wilhelm Henningsen, who was the commander of the Assault Company was killed on 01.09.1939 in the attack on Westerplatte. At the end of the war the battery took part in the shelling of the Soviet position in Dziwnowa and Wolin. training coastal battery "Henningsen" was used there with a bunker for commanding and fire directing, constructed between 1939-40.  After the war until 1961 the Russians occupied the fort, installing here! Coastal battery, armed with 127 mm 3 working American production.
