Sperenberg

Sperenberg, south of Berlin, was the main transport base. Housed transport, reconnaissance and helicopter regiments. The An-12, An-26, Tu-134, the rare Il-20 Coot A, Mil-8 and Mil-24 helicopters had Sperenberg as their home base. Every day the mail flight from Moscow, operated with various types like the Tu-154 or Il-18, landed at Sperenberg.lso heavy action by An-22, An-125 and Il-76 giants.

Units in the year 1990: 113 OVE: Mi-6, Mi-8, Mi-9, Mi-24; 226 OSAP: An-12, An-24, An-26, Tu-134; 39 ORAO: Il-20, Il-22.

After the contract was signed in 1990 of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Germany, began the return of the West Group in 1991 and ended in 1994.  To remove all the troops where many of the largest military transport aircraft  used. These include Ilyushin Il-76, the Antonov An-124 Antonov An-22 spotted several times in Sperenberg.

On May 27, 1994, involving a number of MiG-29 `s. and Su-27  for the final   parade.            On 6 September was the  An-12 as the last machine of the Russian Air Force left Sperenberg.

   The former War bridge across the Schumkasee between Sperenberg &  Kumersdorf.  Essential elements of warfare, were brought together and perfected. A key element was the construction and subversion of moving and fixed railway bridges. Both require new techniques for the soldiers with technical expertise and appropriate  training. The pioneers were the construction in the Schumkasee formed both mobile and  stationary bridges. Even today, the massive pillars of the bridge is still present. The Railway engineers trained in all areas of railway technology, because they were able to build or to destroy.
